My dearest colleague, Nkem, bought me a copy of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo for my birthday after enough noise from me. I was so excited.

In my head, I image that when Reid finished writing it, Jackie Collins appeared in her dream and said to her *in Mufasa’s voice*, “Well done my child!” Because, damn, mami! This was an interesting read!

So, what is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo about? The world’s most iconic movie star wants to tell her story and release her deepest secrets to a journalist who seems entirely random at first. That’s all I’m giving away. You just have to read it!

The writing is smooth, engaging and skillful. I’m going to try to not drop spoilers because this book should be experienced organically. I wish I could read it for the first time again.

Is “The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo” Worth The Read?

Yes! Everybody needs to read this. Evelyn Hugo has become one of my favourite fictional characters so imma just #Fangirl for a bit. She is ready to bare it all for this journalist who is supposed to write a book about her.

I just wanted to take all the secrets she revealed, keep them close to my chest and protect them from this world. She’s complex, cruel, passionate but that’s what makes her human. And if you don’t understand all of her. You don’t deserve to love her. Do I sound like I’m in love? YES!

I wanted to read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo because I wanted something light and easy but it ended up being this beautifully written feminist tale about sexuality, fame, domestic abuse, love, race, heartbreak and loss. And the end was just beautiful I almost cried.

A book I can say is actually worth all the hype surrounding it. What a stunning book. And that cover? I cannot wait to get my hands on more Taylor Jenkins Reid books because YAAASS QUEEN, YAAASSS!!

Have you read this book? What did you think about it? And if you haven’t, you need to read it ASAP.
